Managing and Removing Marketing Links in Velveteen

Updated June 13, 2026

The short answer

On the Links page you can copy a link, open it, and remove it. Removing a pre-save link that is still building cancels the build. Removing a live release-day link lets you choose whether to remove it from Velveteen only or from vlvtn.link as well.

Once a link exists, the Links page is where you copy, open, and remove it. Removal behaves differently depending on the link type and its status.

What you can do

Copy the URL

Copy a live link to share it anywhere.

Open in the editor

A live release-day link can open the vlvtn editor in a new tab.

Cancel a pending build

A pre-save link that is still Requested or Building can be cancelled, which stops it from being built.

Remove a link

Delete a link from Velveteen when you no longer need it.

Removing a release-day link

Because a live release-day link also exists on vlvtn.link, removing it gives you a choice: remove it from Velveteen only, or remove it from both Velveteen and vlvtn.link.

Removing from Velveteen only takes it off your Links page but leaves the vlvtn.link page in place. Removing from both takes the link down everywhere.

Heads up

Removing a link cannot be undone. If the link is in use in posts or ads, make sure you have a replacement before you remove it.

Cancelling a pre-save in progress

If a pre-save link is still Requested or Building, removing it cancels the request and stops the build before the link goes Live.

Frequently asked questions

What happens when I remove a link?+

It is taken off your Links page. For a live release-day link, you also choose whether to remove it from vlvtn.link. Removal cannot be undone.

Why am I asked Velveteen only or both?+

A live release-day link exists on vlvtn.link too, so Velveteen lets you decide whether to remove just the Velveteen record or the vlvtn.link page as well.

Can I get a removed link back?+

No. Removal is permanent. You would need to create a new link.

How do I stop a pre-save that is still building?+

Remove it while it is Requested or Building. That cancels the request and stops the build.
