Customizing Link Appearance in Velveteen
Updated July 6, 2026
A Velveteen release-day listening link can be edited after it is created. From the Links page, edit the link to change its label, included tracks, focus track, expiration date, download permission, and appearance. Appearance can follow the listener's system setting, stay light, or stay dark.
Use this when a release-day link is live but the page needs to match the campaign more closely. These settings affect the Velveteen listening page for that link. They do not change the release metadata you deliver to stores.
What you can edit
Label
The internal name shown on the Links page so you can recognize the link later.
Included tracks
Choose all tracks or a specific subset of tracks from the release.
Focus track
Highlight one included track in its own card above the tracklist.
Expiration
Set an optional date when the link should stop being available.
Allow audio download
Controls whether listeners can download audio from this link.
Appearance
Choose System, Light, or Dark for the private listening page.
Editing step by step
- 1
Open Links
Go to Marketing, then Links, in the dashboard. - 2
Edit the release-day link
Open the edit action for the live release-day link you want to adjust. - 3
Choose tracks and focus
Leave Include all tracks on, or choose a subset. If you pick a focus track, it must be one of the included tracks. - 4
Set access options
Choose an optional expiration date and whether audio downloads are allowed. - 5
Pick appearance
Use System, Light, or Dark. System follows the listener's device preference. - 6
Save
Save the modal. The link keeps the same URL with the updated page settings.
Important limits
If you turn off Include all tracks, Velveteen requires at least one selected track before saving.
A focus track is optional. If the selected focus track is later removed from the included set, Velveteen clears that focus choice before saving.
These settings are separate from the destination editor on vlvtn.link. Use the external editor when you need to change store destinations or link-level routing outside the Velveteen listening page.
Heads up
Frequently asked questions
Does changing appearance change the URL?+
No. The same link URL keeps working with the updated page settings.
What does System appearance mean?+
System follows the listener's device preference. If their device is in light mode, the page uses light mode; if it is in dark mode, the page uses dark mode.
Can I feature one track from an album?+
Yes. Pick a focus track in the edit modal. It appears above the tracklist as the highlighted track.
Can I make a link expire?+
Yes. Set an expiration date in the edit modal. Leave it blank if the link should stay available.
Is this for pre-save links too?+
No. These edit settings apply to Velveteen release-day listening links. Pre-save links are built through Found.ee and follow their own workflow.
