Creating a Marketing Link in Velveteen
Updated June 13, 2026
To create a marketing link, open the Links page under Marketing, use Create link, choose pre-save or release-day, then pick a release you have permission on and confirm. A release can have one active link of each type.
The flow is the same for both link types. The difference is what happens after you confirm: a release-day link is instant, while a pre-save link builds in the background.
Step by step
- 1
Open the Links page
Go to Marketing, then Links, in the dashboard. - 2
Use Create link
Open the dialog and choose the type: a pre-save link or a release-day link. - 3
Choose a release
Pick a release you have access to. You can only link releases you have permission on. - 4
Confirm
Use Request pre-save or Create release-day link. Velveteen then builds the link.
What you need
Permission on the release
You can only create a link for a release you have access to.
An account in good standing
A restricted account cannot create links until the restriction is resolved.
No duplicate of that type
If an active link of that type already exists, Velveteen opens it instead of making a second one.
After you confirm
A release-day link is created instantly and shows as Live. A pre-save link is queued and moves from Requested to Building to Live as it is prepared.

Frequently asked questions
Can I link any release?+
Only releases you have permission on. The release picker lists releases available to your account.
Why can I not create a second link?+
Each release allows one active link per type. Velveteen points you to the existing link instead of duplicating it.
What if my account is restricted?+
Link creation is blocked while an account is restricted. Resolve the restriction, then try again.
Which type should I pick?+
Pre-save before the release is out, release-day once it is live. See the pages on each type for detail.
