Add Tracks and Audio in Velveteen

On a DRAFT release, open the Tracks tab and click Add Track or + Add Track. Create or attach a recording, upload from your device or import audio from Dropbox or Google Drive, then complete preview settings, ISRC choice, genre, language, P line, contributors, performers, shareholders, and the AI usage declaration on the track detail page.
Tracks are separate catalog objects linked to the release through release tracks. Submission validates every attached track, so a release can look complete at the release level and still be blocked by missing track audio, credits, language, previews, or AI usage fields.
Per-track requirements
Audio file
audio file is required and duration must be at least 30 seconds. You can upload from your device or import from connected Dropbox or Google Drive.
Preview
Preview start and preview length are required and must fit inside the audio duration.
Genre and language
Genre is required. Non-instrumental tracks also need Language. Instrumental tracks use Audio Language ZXX.
℗ line
℗ year and ℗ text are required on each track.
Credits
At least one Composer, one production role, one instrument performer, and a Lyricist for non-instrumental tracks.
AI declaration
Every track needs an AI usage declaration before submission.

Add the track to the release

Upload audio
Open the track and upload the master file from your device, use Import from Dropbox to choose a file in Dropbox, or use Import from Google Drive after connecting Drive in Integrations. - 3
Complete metadata
Fill title, display artist, genre fields, explicit flag, language, and preview settings. - 4
Add credits
Add contributors, performers, artist credits, publishers, and shareholders as needed. - 5
Check readiness
Return to the release Overview tab and use Release Readiness to jump back to any track blocker that remains.
Tip
Import paths
A local upload and a cloud import end in the same place: the track needs a playable audio file before submission. Dropbox and Google Drive imports are useful when the master file is already in a shared folder or too cumbersome to download and re-upload manually.
Google Drive import requires the Drive integration to be connected first. If the import option is unavailable, connect Drive from Integrations or use a local upload instead.

Frequently asked questions
Can Velveteen generate an ISRC?+
Yes when generate an ISRC is enabled. Otherwise you must enter a valid ISRC before submission.
Do instrumental tracks need lyricists?+
No. Instrumental tracks use audio language ZXX and cannot include Lyricist contributors.
Can I import audio from Dropbox or Google Drive?+
Yes. The track audio workflow supports local upload, Dropbox import, and Google Drive import when the relevant integration is connected.
Can I reuse a track on another release?+
Tracks are separate objects and can be attached to multiple releases through release tracks. Keep the metadata accurate for the specific release package you are delivering.
When do shareholders lock?+
Shareholder edits lock once the track is part of a submitted or live release package.
