Cloud File Imports in Velveteen
Updated June 29, 2026
Dropbox and Google Drive imports let you choose artwork or audio from a connected cloud account and save a copy into Velveteen. Artwork imports are available in the artwork modal. Audio imports are available on the track Audio tab. The provider file is read by Velveteen, but Velveteen does not write changes back to Dropbox or Google Drive.
Use this when your masters or artwork are already in a shared folder. The import flow is still part of Velveteen's upload path, so the saved catalog file follows the same artwork and audio rules as a normal upload.
Where imports appear
Release artwork
The artwork modal shows Import from Dropbox and Import from Google Drive.
Artist artwork
The same artwork modal path can import supported images where the artwork uploader is used.
Track audio
The track Audio tab shows Import from Dropbox and Import from Google Drive beside the local upload option.
How import works
- 1
Check the connection
Velveteen checks whether Dropbox or Google Drive is connected before opening the picker. - 2
Browse or search files
Use the picker to find the image or audio file in the connected provider. - 3
Confirm the file
Velveteen prepares the selected file and shows transfer progress while it downloads and uploads. - 4
Save into the catalog
After transfer, Velveteen saves the imported file to the release, artist, or track record.
Provider differences
Dropbox imports use folder listing, search, temporary links, and preview routes in the Dropbox integration.
Google Drive imports use Drive file listing, search, temporary links, and direct download routes through the Google Drive integration.
