Automation Recipes in Velveteen

Updated August 16, 2026

The short answer

Recipes are versioned, installable automation templates. During the current pilot, only Velveteen platform admins can inspect and install them; each installation remains a normal draft.

Choose a recipe by the result you want. The library groups recipes into release preparation, fan growth, promotion, and recovery outcomes; each card shows when it starts and what it does without exposing internal setup details.

Recipe lifecycle

  1. 1

    Choose who it is for

Select an artist or label before browsing. The picker shows only relationships attached to your account.
  2. 2

    Find a recipe

Use search and Outcome first. Open More filters only when you want to narrow the list by product area or timing.
  3. 3

    Create the draft

Use recipe creates a draft for the current selection. If an artist is already selected, Velveteen does not ask you to choose that artist again.
  4. 4

    Review the recipe

The draft opens with a plain summary of what starts the workflow and every possible path. Choose Customize workflow only when you want to change its steps.
  5. 5

    Preview and activate

Preview opens in a visible dialog and makes no changes. Activate the draft separately when the scope and paths are correct.

Frequently asked questions

Are recipes the same as automations?+

A recipe is a reusable starting point. Once you use it, it becomes a normal Automation draft that you can edit and activate.

Why does a recipe ask me to review releases?+

The selected artist or label does not have a release ready for that recipe yet. Review the release and return to the recipe library after it is ready.
