What Happens After You Submit a Pitch
Updated June 11, 2026
After you submit, your pitch locks and Velveteen admins review it. You receive a notification when it is approved and queued for delivery, returned as needs work with feedback, or rejected. Delivered means Velveteen sent the editorial package to DSP channels. That is not the same as being playlisted. Track real outcomes through streaming analytics and DSP artist tools.
Submitting a pitch is not the finish line. It is the handoff from your writing to Velveteen's review and delivery pipeline. What happens next is mostly out of your hands, which is why setting expectations correctly matters. This page covers the post-submit path and how to interpret outcomes without over-reading status changes.
Immediately after submit
The pitch status changes to submitted and the form locks. The readiness panel disappears. You can still view every field, but edits require a needs-work return from admins. Your linked release continues its own distribution timeline unaffected.

Tip
After delivery
Delivered is Velveteen's terminal success state for the submission pipeline. The editorial package is in DSP hands. From there, platforms vary: some teams acknowledge pitches, most do not reply. Playlist adds appear in analytics, not in Velveteen pitch status.
Continue executing your marketing plan. Algorithmic surfaces like Release Radar and Discover Weekly operate independently of editorial pitching. For how to approach those surfaces, see the relevant guides.

Frequently asked questions
Will I get an email when my pitch is reviewed?+
Velveteen sends in-app notifications for approved, needs work, and rejected outcomes. Email templates fire for needs work and rejected paths. Check your notification preferences if you are not seeing updates.
Can I cancel a submitted pitch?+
Once submitted, you cannot edit or recall the pitch yourself. Contact Velveteen support if you need to withdraw before delivery. After delivery, recall is typically not possible.
How do I know if I got playlisted?+
Watch for spikes in streams, check Spotify for Artists or equivalent DSP dashboards for playlist sources, and look for editorial playlist appearances. Pitch status in Velveteen will not change to 'playlisted'. That is not a status in the pipeline.
What should I do while waiting for review?+
Finalize release metadata, prepare marketing assets, and confirm your release date is still correct. If review returns needs work, you will want bandwidth to edit quickly without losing editorial lead time.
My pitch was delivered but nothing happened. Is that normal?+
Yes. Most delivered pitches do not result in editorial adds. Delivery confirms submission reached the channel. Silence afterward is the default outcome. Focus on release quality, fan marketing, and algorithmic performance.
