Rebecca After
Rebecca After writes raw, vulnerable music from the places where love gets complicated. Deeply autobiographical, her songs explore relationships, heartbreak, grief, and the questions that remain when there are no easy answers—giving voice to big emotions and making beauty from the struggle of being human. Rebecca began writing songs in her late teens, navigating early adulthood—diving into relationships and independence, and trying to find her footing in the world. In the dark, at her piano, music became a way to process emotions too big to hold alone. That remains at the heart of her songwriting: an honest attempt to make sense of love, loss, longing, and being human. As a physician, Rebecca has spent years exploring what makes people well. Yet after years of seeking there are places most ways of knowing cannot reach. Music offers a way to hold the mystery and emotional depth of human experience without needing to resolve it. After stepping away from recording during medical training, Rebecca is returning to music with songs born across years of loving, losing, and beginning again. There is an intimacy to the stories she tells and a strength to the voice that carries them—music that lives somewhere between knowing and the longing to know. Rebecca writes because the songs keep coming, and because they feel meant to have a life beyond her notebook. She makes music for people who feel deeply, ask big questions, and keep choosing to love even when they know how much it can hurt.
